Flashback Friday: Fr. Daniel Couture, 2009

We don't often get to see white cassocks here in the "civilized" West, but this month I was reminded of my conversation with Fr. Daniel Couture, SSPX District Superior of Asia, 3 Decembers ago, in 2009.  In this excerpt from Part I of a much longer interview, Father speaks about where he grew up, his vocation, and his early apostolate.  To see the rest of the interview, and other conversations, ceremonies, and conferences, visit www.truerestorationmedia.com.

Please give us a break! Fr Couture has been in charge of the stagnating Asia District for 15 years now. He has flown tens of countless thousand miles to what purpose no one will ever know. What you didn't notice was that his white cassock was teflon coated. Nothing sticks to him.

A year or so before the SSPX's Silver Jubilee Year in India, the long awaited second priory, for the non-Tamil people of that Mission was erected in the Mumbai vicinity. After 25 years would Couture permit Indians to run a priory in their own country? What? Do THEY pay???? !!!!
Instead, two already controversial figures, Frs F. Chazal and J. Pfeiffer ( now of SSPX-SO fame) were given charge. In a year or so that priory ran aground!
As your other poster said, nothing ever sticks to Fr Teflon.
