Discontentment is rampant in modern society. Even the most devout amongst us fight against this expression of pride, battling the gnawing thought that we deserve better. It is, of course, a lie. The Thinking Housewife has a short but thought-provoking post entitled High School Women of 1958, in which the author presents a photograph which had originally been mistaken for college women in order to demonstrate precisely how far we’ve come in the last 60 years. “Judging by appearances, these are mature women prepared for real life, not children prepared for another phase of extended childhood.”
