While this series is by no means a full exploration of the Second Vatican Council in itself, to understand what came after it is important to understand how it came about. We discuss the preparatory work for the council, the problems already developing then, as well as the disappeared Roman Synod which occurred on the eve of the Council as well as the document Veterum Sapientia. This document and that synod were the last rally of the traditionalists before the storm of Vatican II.
