Devotions with Bishop Dolan, Episode 5: The Litanies

All SaintsLitanies, prayers of petition with are integral to the prayer life of any practicing Catholic, will be the focus of this show. Deriving from the Greek word litenia, which means supplication, the Church makes great use of these prayers during many of its ceremonies and processions. Why is that?

When and why did the Church begin using litanies and from where does this practice come? We'll explore the major litanies and how they can be put into practice in the day-to-day life of Catholics. We'll explore the devotional aspect of the litanies and what the significance of each is.

Join us as His Excellency, Bishop Daniel Dolan, pastor of St. Gertrude the Great Catholic Church in West Chester, Ohio and host Justin Soeder discuss this pious Catholic devotion, and hopefully, shed some insight into how to make this a permanent part of one's devotional practices in the spiritual life.
