From the Pulpit, Episode 20: God’s Justice and the Priest as the Good Samaritan

Fr. Vili Lehtoranta

Fr. Vili Lehtoranta

On this episode of From the Pulpit, we welcome Fr. Vili Lehtoranta, assistant pastor of St. Gertrude the Great Catholic Church in West Chester, Ohio who will give two sermons: the first on the justice of God and the second on viewing the priest as the good samaritan and how he relates to the parable told by Our Lord.

God punishes the wicked and rewards the just. To be a part of the just, one must believe the teachings of the Church which Christ instituted. To rebel against God's teaching is the worst crime. In addition to staying true to Our Lord's Church and avoiding falling into heresy, we must never show any approval of heresy, no matter how small the issue may be and no matter what the reason.

A Roman Catholic priest is a model of the Good Samaritan in the way he practices charity by helping souls attain salvation. We should always humble ourselves, receive the sacraments frequently, listen to what the priest tells us and let ourselves be healed spiritually, so that when we receive the judgment of God, we will be granted entrance into eternal paradise and the beatific vision.
