In Veritate, Episode 3: Pomps of Satan and Satisfaction

The Coat of Arms of His Excellency

The Coat of Arms of His Excellency

When we are baptized, we or our sponsors renounce the pomps of Satan. Though, what exactly are these pomps? Bishop Sanborn reveals and discusses in depth what Satan’s pomps are and how they connect with grave sin.

His Excellency then continues to point out some signs that someone may be attached to the pomps of Satan. He concludes the subject by instructing us on how to avoid being infected by these pomps.

Following this, Bishop Sanborn begins to talk about satisfaction. That is, paying of a debt owed to God in justice - voluntary penance in reparation for sin. He discusses the importance of satisfaction for our temporal punishment due to sin.

Satisfaction can repair the damage sins have done, even mortal sins to some extent. It also protects us from future sin.

Bishop Sanborn goes into even more detail on the subject of satisfaction, covering the means of satisfaction and how it can benefit us. There is no better time to commit to a form or two of satisfaction than right now, in the season of Lent.
