September Course: The Councils

Where did the summer go? September has arrived, with the autumn Ember Days on the 18th, 20th, and 21st, Our Lady’s Seven Sorrows, and the Dedication of St. Michael the Archangel... along with the beginning of a new school year and a harvest that, by God’s will, will sustain us through another winter.

True Restoration is excited to bring you a new series this month! Entitled The Councils, it will encompass a discussion of Church history which will help to put the current situation of Holy Mother Church into its proper place and perspective. Father Arnold Trauner will join host Stephen Heiner for 10 episodes to be released throughout September, beginning on the 4th. This series will carry over into future seasons.

All of the most recent episodes of True Restoration programming are accessible only to our members. In an effort to bring quality Catholic content to all who seek it, we will continue to offer Monthly Memberships. This season, these inexpensive memberships include access to all of the current season’s releases (please note that the previous season is no longer included). Enjoy this new series, The Councils, by becoming a member today!

Church history is incredibly important, particularly in a world which would rather re-write the Divine out of human history... join Stephen Heiner as he hosts Father Trauner in The Councils!

The Councils, Episode 0: Why Study Church History?

The Councils, Episode 3: Council of Constantinople (Part I: Events and Key Persons between the Councils)

The Councils, Episode 5: Council of Ephesus (Part I: Nestorius Rises)

The Councils, Episode 6: Council of Ephesus (Part II: Nestorius Condemned)

The drama of this Council is high, as it begins with a great victory, as Our Lady is proclaimed Theotokos, but quickly devolves into tragedy, as political machinations by bishops lead to a false...

The Councils, Episode 7: Council of Chalcedon (Part I: Monophysitism)

Within 20 years of the Council of Ephesus, a new error arises: monophysitism, which teaches that Our Lord only had one nature, a divine one. Once again the Church tries subsidiarity and to resolve...

The Councils, Episode 8: Council of Chalcedon (Part II: Some Order Restored)

In the final episode of the series for the season, the Council of Chalcedon is convoked by Emperor Marcian to resolve the Monophysite question. This time orthodoxy triumphs behind a Catholic emperor but the...
