Sowing Seeds

Beheading of St. John the Baptist

"The blood of martyrs is the seed of the Church," said Tertullian--a great quote to remember on this feast of the beheading of St. John the Baptist.  Here, on Bacon from Acorns, John Cuddeback reminds us not to miss even the little opportunities to plant good seeds.

This Malta Tourism Authority video, "An Artist on the Run" gives a brief introduction to Caravaggio's time spent in Malta, where he painted his famous "Beheading of St. John the Baptist".

A fleur-de-lys, a circle, and a heart are three of the unusual medieval book shapes featured in Erik Kwakkel's "Strange Medieval Books" post.
