Although not counted as one of the ecumenical councils of the Church, the Council of Jerusalem is nevertheless important to study as a “template” for how Councils work, as well as to see that how Church government worked in Apostolic times was very similar to how it was worked since. Father Trauner also addresses the “withstood Peter to the face” passage from Galatians so often used to justify their disobedience to the Vicar of Jesus Christ on earth.
