The Second Vatican Council, Episode 3: The Liturgy, Part II

Continuing the discussion from last episode, Father Trauner chronicles a slight fightback from traditional Council Fathers like Archbishop Sigaud and Bishop de Castro Meyer. John XXIII would respond in what can be identified these days as a Bergoglian manner: “The Christian life is not a collection of ancient customs,” indicating exactly where his sympathies lay.

Father also discusses changes to the Divine Office and the infamous ill-use of St. Joseph as a weapon and tool of the Modernists to crack the formerly unchanging Roman Canon.

At the close of the episode, we get some insight into how the press operated at this Council, which was in a completely different manner from Vatican I, and how the various episcopal conferences helped spread their own sorts of propaganda masquerading as information.
