The drama of this Council is high, as it begins with a great victory, as Our Lady is proclaimed Theotokos, but quickly devolves into tragedy, as political machinations by bishops lead to a false council running parallel to the true council. The Emperor arrests all parties before finally hearing both sides and making a decision in favor of the Faith.
